CBN grinding wheels are normally the starting family for hardened ferrous materials such as HSS, bearing steel and tool steel. Material grade and hardness, grinding method, heat control, wheel geometry, coolant and tolerance target should be reviewed together.

Not necessarily. Burning can also involve bond, grit, wheel speed, feed, coolant, dressing and machine condition, so the full process should be reviewed.
Steel grade and HRC are useful when available. If they are unknown, send the part drawing, heat-treatment specification or current process information.
